In most cases the flooring and cabinetry would be in contrasting or different colors, but if both are in dark tones they could also work as well.

I agree with Pamela . Dark floors are like a dark car, they show everything . Best to go lighter on the floor, especially in a high traffic area like the kitchen.

Dark floor also show scratches.....

This looks like a great floor plan! If you are thinking of dark floors a possible solution would be to install Stranded Bamboo floors as they are a lot more durable than your typical wooden floors. I think we have somewhat narrowed it down to a more of a black cabinet coffee expresso color with hints of gray. Possibly a gray engineered wood floor with a white 3cm countertop with gray hints in it. Or a brownish medium colored engineered wood floor. The wood flowing would go in all the major walkways. Thoughts again please and thanks for your input.

Also found a few showrooms to go look at kitchen colors and cabinets in Salt Lake City area. If anyone knows of a store we can go look at please let me know. Appreciate all your assistance.
