70's Kitchen before and after

This is a small space renovation but I tried to make the most of it on a budget by opening up the dividing wall, removing the soffets and adding French doors. We went with natural slate (continued from the entrance landing and stairs), quartz countertop, pendent lights & glass tile backsplash. The post and beam is decorative only which may not be for everyone but I love its rustic charm and its purpose was to divide the smooth ceiling from the rest of the upper house which is textured. We still have the final coat of paint to do on the ceiling but after waiting for a updated kitchen for nearly 15 years, I'm so excited with the results I'm posting before it's even finished!

Thanks CottageIsland! We used "gold river" natural slate - it ties in at the entrance and stairs as well.
