So much exposed glass at night will turn into big black, cold feeling, rectangles. The drapery will help soften and warm your space.

Do you think i should go sheer because these look heavy or in your professional opinion do they look balanced?

The curtains make the room feel warmer. I agree with Pamela DeCuir Interior Designs, keep them.

If nothing else, think about your safety. Do you want to be the prime target of some pervert watching you at night? Your safety is what really matters.....

Very true....fortunately we have 8 ft privacy fences in the back yard, so hopefully that will keep most of the perverts out :)

I agree with curtains, but since privacy isn't an issue, I would suggest sheers. It will let in light during the day, and provide the room-warming effect at night and you won't have to be constantly opening/closing them everyday (ok, I'm a little lazy!). An LED strip light lighting up the sheers at night would make the warming effect even better.
