Cabinet maker painted our cabinets wrong color? NOT chantilly lace

Hello- We are 3 weeks from moving into our house after 9 months of renovation- my GC's painter had to do some trim work and asked me for color and sample of cabinet color. The cabinet maker left some of the sample that he used which was a semi gloss water based conversion varnish OC65 Chantilly lace but when the painter came back he said that the color was not Chantilly Lace OC65 that it had a lot more black, orange and yellow. I went to the paint store and took my brushout that I ok'd for sheen and the paint store told me that it was simply not chantilly lace. I signed off on brushout but did not color match paint sample -I looked more at the sheen. What to do? Do not love my color of custum cabinets as they look a little grey.

If you signed off on the sample without noting any exceptions, that's acceptance. The cabinet maker did what you accepted.

i think before you needed the trim touch up you didnt know the difference....so i wouldnt worry about it now.

No I did notice I did not like color but just assumed my designer picked out wrong color… it is a great room and we have White dove surrounding the kitchen and I was having to switch the trim in the great room to "chantilly lace" because it was too much of a contrast. I definitely did notice it.. but I thought it was just my fault…

Very awkward for all involved at this point. Matching a cabinet grade lacquer to an interior paint is tricky as they are such different products. We often have to tweak the color once the first door is sprayed and shown to the customer (or often I will veto before it gets that far) once the entire kitchen is painted it seems it is yours... Ugh.

the reflection off the counter tops can make them look gray take a door off and take ir out in the sunlight and see if it looks gray

Our cabinets started with white paint and I had a glaze added over them ,which now has a little grayish tint to them. After everything was finished and then added decor etc. I absolutely love them. You cabinets really look beautiful !

You signed off on it, you own the decision. If you want to pay for a complete respray, that's up to you. Looks fine. Paint the woodwork another color, or get better lighting. That will make more difference in your perception of the color than you think.

If this is something that is going to bother you every time you look at it, then I suggest you bite the bullet and pay for a re-paint. It would be a shame to let a thousand or even 2 thousand stand in the way of you loving your home. You have already spent a good amount of money, so a little more spent to make it what you want will erase future years of that nagging feeling of wishing the paint had been the color you really wanted.

Every single remodel I've been through there's been at least one thing that went wrong that seemed like a glaring error--like a huge pimple on the face of an otherwise beautiful project. And I vowed that I would never forget that horrendous flaw and I would always see it every time I walked in the room. But today, only a few months after my most recent remodel, I can't remember any of those flaws. I certainly don't see them when I walk into rooms. And neither do my guests. Try to keep a little perspective; I know it's hard to do so after a project that has taken so long and likely cost a boatload of cash.

Julie Ann, I know this is an old post thread...... This is the same problem I have. Please update me. How was this resolved? Did you get your cabinets repainted?
