You have a few options here, first would be to shorten the drapes a little, they seem a bit long for the window, it would be better to have them end a couple inches past the casement. Otherwise you could just do away with the drapes and have a nice top treatment, either a cornice or valance that could still add interest to the window. It would look really nice to update the blinds, perhaps with some roman shades, and have a top treatment on it.

I dislike short curtains of any length- usually. fabric roman shades would be my choice.

I'm with you, bgfuqua...I don't like short panels either. Natalie Massie's suggestion of a valance is a good one; perhaps I'll mix your idea of roman blinds and top them off with a valance. One thing's for sure...those pink blinds have got to go!!

I would even shorten them to just under the window moldings...I think they will look more intended this way.
