Large mirror with a upholstered bench below and Art

I see lots of shapes that's all I know... hit me to use a set of mirrors or mirrored frames with those simple pictures in them...

Find a credenza, chest or buffet with doors or drawers that will make a statement with a mirror over it.

Where does the 20' start - at bottom of staircase?
The stencil in this ceiling made me think of the opportunity with those shapes - maybe every other rectangle a simple stencil? top/over-down/....

Actually, I believe what you have would be paneling, rather than wainscoting. Wainscoting only goes partway up the wall, while paneling covers the entire wall like these photos from English castles.

While yours is not the natural wood, it does give you excellent texture. Generally rooms or halls with paneling like this had large paintings or portraits hung on the walls. You're lucky in that yours is painted, patching holes when hanging items on the natural wood is difficult.
