The basic soapy water spray recipe is 1 T of pure soap in 1 gallon of water. Used it for years and as long as you don't drench the plant and don't spray in the heat of the day, no problems.

digdirt, thanks for the post and site. Have spent the last 2 days looking at it.

I do not know the exact measurements, usually just throw everything together. I use dish soap and water for aphids and white flies, should work for spider mites also (especially good for small seedlings). You have to spray them directly but it does kill them.

This year we experimented with jalapeno peppers, ivory soap and water, for flea beetles. I swear it worked. You have to spray it every few days to really keep up them under control. We may have only sprayed them once a week. We always have major problems with flea beetles. Last year we wanted to stay away from chemicals, tried dusting them, which was not successful. We did not get one single eggplant last year, very very disappointing. This year since we used the hot pepper soap mixture it looks like we should have eggplant, since the plants are now a good size.
