Marble is unfortunately very susceptible to marring because of its more porous nature but because it is a widely used surface in more traditional applications, the aesthetic appeal often wins out over practicality. One solution for you to consider to help solve your dilemma would be to ask your granite installer to come back and buff out some of the spots on sight which can often help restore the marble to its original luster. Additionally you can request that a sealer be applied to help deter future stains, although this is not permanent and should be repeated at least every six months to a year to help maintain the stone in the most optimal state possible.

I very much appreciate your response. Upon installation the stone was sealed and resealed shortly after because I notice a haziness behind the faucet and stains on either side of the kitchen sink. I was told that it would not wear like granite etc., I just didn't expect it to be soooo fragile even to water...

We only try to use honed marble in the kitchen which will show less staining, etc. its like a new car, at first all the little dings, nicks, scratches are kinda annoying but you start to care less and less over time.

I am considering carrera marble for bathroom floor, shower and vanity & tub surround. Is this crazy it is so beautiful. I can't find anything I like in Quartz/Granite. I have used soapstone in my previous kitchen soI am used to high maintenance.
