It will all depend on the amount of natural light they get and the min./max. temps in the room. They will produce blooms if sufficient broad-spectrum light is available and for most of us that would mean expensive metal halide or high pressure sodium light fixtures. Even in the green house we often have to provide supplemental lighting.

And those blooms will only set fruit within a limited temperature range (see the FAQ here on blossom drop) so supplemental heating is also required unless your room is already well heated.

So for many it becomes cost-prohibitive and I would think in your zone it would be especially so.

But this is not to say it can't be done. ;) Give it a try and see if the effort and results are worth it to you. Just don't expect the same sort of results you would get at normal planting times and outside.

I grow maters in my greenhouse successfully during the winter - they're about 2 foot tall in a 5 gal bucket now. In addition to light and temps, you'll need to help them pollinate. Since each bloom can self pollininate, I use an electric toothbrush to shake the blooms and get the pollen moving. You could also blow on them or carefully shake them, but the toothbrush works great - I pretty much get a mater from every bloom.
