I didn't prune my apricot tree last year and this year I have a bumper crop of fruit. Problem is the branches are so loaded with fruit 5 branches have broken. Seems like Mama nature is pruning the tree for me.

My question is, how far back can I prune the tree to get it under control? Should I cut some of the main trunks back to reduce the height of the tree? I dont want to lose the tree but I have to do something with it.....Help please.
