Love your counter top!!! I think the colors in it are a bordeaux (dark wine red), dark slate gray, cream and beige is how it appears on my computer. I'd love to see lower cabinets painted in the dark slate gray (nearly black) and the upper cupboards painted in the bordeaux. Your light flooring should pick up the cream in it so I think it would be beautiful! I love bordeaux in a kitchen! To help lighten it, I'd think mirror back splash and the matching cream on the walls. Gorgeous counter top! I've actually been thinking of taking the dark granite off my island and replacing it with this. (When it happens, I hope to repaint my cabinets too!!

I love the sample wall color you have with your floor sample, but not sure about it with the granite. I think the very dark flooring would look the best with the granite, cream cabinets and that wall color, BUT they will show dirt more. The sample flooring in the middle (single row of samples) of your floor sample pictures is probably going to pickup more of the granite color. Personally, I really prefer the more natural look of the lighter color you have leaning against the sample wall. If it were me, that is the one I would choose.

This is exactly the granite we put into our kitchen, along with cream cabinets having a hand rubbed soft umber glaze. We chose to stain the 9' island cabinets a warm maple to contrast with rest of the cabs but pick up on the red in the granite, and then applied the same glaze to tie in to the rest of the kitchen cabs.The walls were painted similar to the cabinet base color - minus the glaze - and a 1-2 shades darker, and the back splash tile also matches the cabinets. The floors are natural red oak, no stain. It all comes off very warm, especially with the contrast island. And this particular granite offers a range of colors to pull as accents ... Bordeaux red, light & dark grey, cream, and in some light, olive green.

Sorry everybody; I was not very clear on what I needed. I already have the light wood and cream cabinets and granite - was just looking for a kitchen color for walls and possibly a color that goes with that color for the rest of the downstairs which would look good together. Thank you all for your suggestions... I am going to look at some of your suggestions now :)

What is the manufacturer and color of your gray paint sample?

I like light colors on walls, especially if you are painting many walls in a house and not just an accent wall. I'd choose the same light color for the kitchen and the rest of downstairs. We don't know much about your style, furniture, lamps-lighting etc in kitchen or other rooms., though. I'd match a very light beige from the granite and maybe go a few shades lighter. I'd like this beige paint / granite / cream cabinets weighted with some black: in the lighting, & bar stools / chairs etc.

carribrian....Sorry I misunderstood your question. I really like the paint sample you have with the lighter floors. Looking on my home computer, where I can see larger photos, I think you have a great combination. Everything looks very clean and inviting.

If you are going to live there a while, have you considered a color?

The only color that I have sampled this far is Zeus by Sherwin Williams but I think it's a bit too dark. I will be going and getting more paint wall samples tomorrow :) The entire room is now open to family room and dining room; you can also halfway see the living room. I am looking for two paint colors. One for kitchen, diningrm and one for livingrm. Similar color scheme preferred.
