I put in new pond last winter and covered it with a mesh to keep leaves out. When I took the mesh off I have dead algae on the sides. Does anyone know how to get the dead algae off the sides? I have been looking for a long handle scrubbie to take it off and cant seem to find one. What is the best way to get it off so the new green algae can form on the sides of the pond

Not all algae is green. Some is actually brown and that may be what you have. A good brush for the sides would be a toilet bowl brush.

I've made a very useful tool for cleaning and removing string algae by using a painters extension pole (from a dollar store) and fastening a toilet scrubber to it with duct tape/zip ties. Total cost $3.00.
