Do you have wooden blinds in the other areas and what color/stain are they? Do you have one window in this room or two? Do you need window treatment for privacy?

This is a cape style house that we just purchased. All of the windows have this wood trim in same color. Kitchen has white mini blinds, living room is still waiting and the office also has white mini blinds. There are two windows in this room, the other window is on the left side next to the bureau. I do need privacy. Thanks!

Thanks feeny. I like the idea of being able to look out the window during the day, so roman shades are nice, and I'm thinking about them too, but the only reason I'm hesitating is that it might make the room look smaller and darker during the day.

Grommet style drapes (West Elm) hung over the wood trim/close to the ceiling, would give you that simple, clean line look. yet elegant..I would try to get as close as you can to the wall color/ shade darker or lighter..if you like that style.

Light-filtering cell shades in a light, neutral color will make the room seem more spacious. They are available with "light rise", a cordless system you can raise them with the touch of a finger. (They would also be a great look for your kitchen and other rooms.)

I have plain roller shades in all of the rooms of my house and love them! They are a good quality that have been in my house for over 20 years. I never change them when I'm in the mood for some thing new. On my bedroom windows I have just the blinds, because I like the spartan feel. In two other berooms I have very light weight white valances. In the downstairs living and dining rooms I full length drapery panels.

By the way, I love the colors in your room with the natual woodwork. Don't get tempted to paint any trim until you've lived in your new home for quite a while.

Sandra, once you select the houzz image you wish to share, drag your mouse over the link's address to highlight it. Go to your toolbar at the top of your computer screen and click edit. i agree with feeny....i like the idea of a roman shade in a lighter color than your walls! if you are going to jc penneys, i'm pretty sure they have them there.

Sandra, if you are still having trouble after michigammemom's instructions, it may be your browser. I remember that Cynthia Taylor-Luce was having the same problem (can't remember what she was using--possibly Internet Explorer?) and it was solved by switching to firefox or safari or chrome or some more updated houzz-compatible browser.

Thanks all! So I bought some draperies at Target (go figure) - JC Penney was too expensive. It still looks too plain to me - but I somewhat like the simplicity of it. Any suggestions??

Houssaon I love your windows! I was actually very tempted to paint the trim because all of the pictures that I've seen show white trim and none show what to do with natural woodwork (which is how my whole house is).

I would do a white woo dblind in the window to lighten up the look. grommet panels are hard to open and close at night in my opinion.

Wooden blinds Hmm.

Like the sheer shown - take 3 or 4 sheer panels - separate them - grab half way down and begin rotating until a pool of fabric is in a drape puddle on floor - it looks great with bedding goods regardless of blinds behind.
