I would use a soft green. Just some added comments: if you can change the hardware to cupped on the drawers and knobs on the corners - would have to wood fill the holes so they can be placed in the corners which is more modern. Remove the valance (keep the copper above window). If you can replace blinds with roman shades. Not sure if there is room, but place in the centre a portable island for additional work space. Changing the faucet to a farmhouse style (maybe copper) would be a bonus as well. For added interest and to lightn the room a bit, consider distressing the beam with white milkpaint. I like white or antiqued cabin ares myself.

Other suggestions: take down valance and copper. The copper is too close to the wood color and its a rather dated look.

Can you take down the metal cabin ayes and put some open shelving there instead? Use the open shelving to hold your tableware which will add some color to the space as well.

An island or prep table would be great here as well. A more modern ceiling fan if you really need it.
