Landscape and lighting. I personally don't like painted brick, so I'd leave that, but possibly paint the arch area and trim.

Only paint the brick if you want the continual maintenance that will result.

Are those awnings on the front? If so I'd remove them. Then live with it and get your interiors the way you want. Once they are complete, you can focus on how to change the exterior so that it relates to the interior. If there is not a room above the porch, I think you could demolish that two story brick arch and build a more interesting entryway. Maximizing trim, beefing up windows and replacing any that are aluminum would be the next priority for me.

I wouldn't paint the brick, simply because then you'll be stuck with a lot of maintenance going forward. A fresh coat of white on the trim would do wonders. Landscaping is going be so much fun for you! I envy you that! I'm not sure what zone you live in, so I don't want to make suggestions there.

I absolutely agree. Do NOT paint the brick. And can you remove that insert in the arch? It looks from this one picture as if it might have been an add on or something. And the landscaping will indeed be fun!

Remove the awning, lighten up the panels, keep the arch because of the window arches. Remove those humungous trees in the front and prettify the landscape. Good bones, but needs updating

I don't think those are awnings..it's just the way it looks in the photo. I think the problem is the entrance part,,,there is no window above that arch, so you have too much wall. An architect would be able to help with some ideas.

I would argue that rather than go with black, try a really deep, rich, chocolate brown. And if you don't remove the single trunk large tree, do have a professional remove the split trunk trees in front of the 4 tall windows. Those aren't safe and likely to come crashing down in the next big windstorm or ice storm you see.

Definitely don't paint the brink as others have said. Your color of brick is fine it just needs a healthy dose of landscaping. A pyracantha espaliered on the fireplace would be nice, as would a new walkway.

Love it with black trim, skip the large numbers, try and pick up some color in the brick for the front door. Maybe a gray.

first get rid off the huge ass trees they block the focal point which is the front.cut the trees for a nice curb appeal, paint the brick,new windows open up the arc,front porch lighting,light landscaping and your good,then deck the hell out of the inside,inside is what counts

I'd like to see the solid double front door broken into sidelights and a single door under the arch - that will visually bring the door forward .. sidelights and trim painted the same coscob stone wall but door in a wood finish .. .break up that large plane, repeat the tone . . double doors limit the interior usefulness of the front wall and are nearly never used ... .the scale of the new door needs to be wide however . .42" min. .

Finally, doing something architectural with your house numbers there on the arch is a great idea - could be in nickel tones to echo the windows. For me, I say, keep the woods, lose the tree directly in front of the entry and add some flowering groundcovers that like shade . .

I don't care for the orangy brick. I would paint the brick ivory and the panels taupe with dark mahogany double front doors. A stone or paver front walkway would look good. Consider taking down the large tree to the left of the walkway. It appears to be very close to the house and blocks a clear view to the entrance. Have a landscaper plant the correct type and size shrubs around the foundation. Add a large urn to each side of the entry doors filled with colorful flowers. I really like the architectural details of your home. Play them up!!

Blue-grey trim and front door paired with satin nickel or antique pewter hardware would look really sharp.

Having the brick cleaned would make a huge difference. Also, paint the trim a color that you like. Cream works well with brick and is understated yet elegant. As you drive around, see if there are trim colors that you like on brick houses for inspiration.
Besides this, landscaping will make a big difference.

Landscaping can go a huge way. I would recommend adding some evergreens to your front yard, to give it some winter interest (yews, boxwoods, euonymus..). I would also suggest adding some structural blooming shrubs. Whether its hydrangeas, viburnums, lilacs, or any other shrubs, make sure you plant in mass groupings. This will make all the colors in your landscape really pop. You can sprinkle perennials in-front of the shrubs as well to bring some more color. Use planters in the front for some annuals to insure color throughout an entire season. Congrats on your new home, excited to see the progress! Good luck!
