When you get a chance, can you take and upload a shot of the whole kitchen or, at least, most of it? I need a big picture perspective. Right now, I would leave them as-is, but that's just a preference thing.

I'm inclined to agree with AMN. Your cabinets look fairly new and appear to be in great shape. Have you considered add a tile backsplash to change the look of your kitchen?

I'm going to add some backsplash color and the floors are staying as is. We don't get enough natural light in that room, and it always feels dark. We are switching out the lighting, but we also wanted to get some ideas about what a color change to the cabinets would do. I've attached 2 more photos. Thank you!

Painting the cabinets will make a huge difference. I'd paint the island a different color from the rest of the cabinets. I find colors I like in the Farrow & Ball catalog & buy from Ace. or the store with the best sale price.

Since Natural light is a Issue , why not paint the cabinets a Pearl white with a Granite colour Back splash

You have black appliances, so I don't think white cabinets are a good idea unless you are going for a retro look. Grey is a popular color right now, a light grey on the uppers and a darker grey on the lowers might work and would also coordinate better with your appliances. Bring in a bright color with your backsplash. And for the floors, wood goes with everything! Since natural light is a problem, have you/can you considered a skylight?

Be sure you really want to paint your cabinets. I am currently in the middle of a total kitchen remodel, but previously had knotty-pine cabinets which I painted a light blue-grey (years ago), because my kitchen was so dark, also with not a lot of natural light. After a while, I regretted it. Maybe it's me, but I just prefer natural wood, whether it's dark or light. Your cabinets are a pretty color and I think once you put your backsplash in, you'll find everything will tie together nicely.

We just painted our cabinets that were also in a small kitchen and about the same color as yours. We chose Cashmere Gray by Benjamin Moore for the upper cabinets and Wedgewood Gray for the bottom. Absolutely love it...best decision we have made. Our new granite countertops are light gray, black, white mix...all very soft in shades. It really opens up the whole room. One tip: before painting we used an oil based primer after sanding the cabinets. You need that so the dark wood doesn't bleed thru. Good luck!
