Bamboo selection help

I'm sorry, you guys must get tons of these threads but... I'm looking for a cold hardy (zone 5a) bamboo that could be used as a hedge/barrier between me and my neighbor. It also would be ideal if the culms could be harvested and used as a bo-staff or walking stick. The only one I found that would fit this is P. Nuda. Any suggestions or comments? Thanks a lot, Evan

hmm. I thought I was zone 5, but I entered my ZIP in a zone checker, and it came out that I was in zone 6, so that makes more possibilities for me.

take a look at bissetii or any version of aureosulcata. (both Phyllostachys)

cold hardiness has many variables and depending on where you are other factors such as sustained cold, dry air, and wind play a huge part.
