Starting Old Seeds

About 8 or 9 years ago, I'd had the intentions of starting a large succulent collection. I purchased a ton of seeds, but life took another course, and I never got around to it.

I'd like to see if any of the seeds I purchased back then may still be viable. I kept them in a closed tin in a cool dark cupboard, with a couple packs of dessicant in the tin as well. What I've got is quite a mixture of cacti and succulents, with a particular emphasis on Mesembs. I've probably got a couple hundred thousand seeds.

Rather than just planting a few of each and seeing what happens, I'd like to treat these seeds ahead of time with a growth hormone that might stimulate and help increase germination. I'd like to get some advice from people in here who may have tried this.

I ordered some GA3 (Gibberellic Acid) powder as wall as some of a Chitosan-based Yield Enhancing Agent.

Any suggestions on how best to go about this? In particular, I'd really like to hear from folks who've actually done this so I know what I'm doing is based on people's actual experiences and not just a hunch.

Thanks for any thoughts/feedback!

John
