Sprawling Clematis

I need a low growing clematis (Integrifolia--is that the correct term?) to cover a bed with some carpet roses I plan to buy. This is a HOT bed that gets about 3-4 hours of hot western afternoon sun in the summers. Are there any clems that would do well there or should I stick with carpet roses?

Denise..the integrifolia's need to have their roots stay moist as well..can that happen in that bed?..If so then grow them there...Jeanne

Go for it. If you can keep the roses moist enough you can keep the Clems moist enough.

some Integrifolias sprawl farther than others. Some just make mounds.

You can also plant vining Clems as ground covers among the roses.
