    #9: Crassula falcata

Most of my smaller cacti are equal parts fine gravel, lava rock and Turface. Some garden soil is mixed in as well, to help hold some moisture as needed. This mix is stable and drains perfectly.

Most of the bigger stuff is about equal parts perlite and Turface.

They are all very nice. I like the peachy ones near the end and the last two.

    X,

It's really difficult to pick the first among equals, but #s 12 and 17 really stand out, with #12 winning by a hair - what are they? And that's a really nice shot of the Cotyledon.

#12 "Notocactus roseoluteus", now in Parodia somewhere
#17 is one of the former "Neochilenia" crispa, now Erioscyce

I'm a big fan of the "Neochilenia" group - dark bodies, great spines, colorful flowers

Now, coming from my Mother and sister, looking at these pictures together, they say WOWOWOW, So beautiful

Mom wants to know, how in the world did you get them to flower like that? What is your secret? They want to go to HD and one each now..

That is some collection you have. You must be so proud, and deserve to be! #13 and #29 are my favorites. Are these easy to find? I would love to add these to my collection, although I really don't have much room anymore!

X- WOW...WOW...WOW those are absolutely beautiful cacti. You should write a book with the "TITLE: HOW TO MAKE CACTI BLOOM" your book will be bestseller for many consecutive weeks. You should be proud to have them.
I used to have (7 years ago) a cacti collection, but none of my plants ever bloom. Now I know the reason. I used 100% soil without any mix......

Looking again at them on this smoke-shrouding-the-valley-completely morning, it's very apparent, X - you grow them all so well. Do you ever exhibit in a concrete fashion? Philadelphia Flower Show, Madison Square Garden, that sort of thing?

    Just unbelievable.

BTW, is that a small spider I see in #15? What are those flowers from? Very cool.

So, which of these guys get the overwinter in the garage treatment vs. the unheated greenhouse treatment? I am starting my inventory of which of my plants should go garage vs. sunroom - I may check in with you in a bit on what I am thinking. I would really appreciate you sanity checking my list...

    Thanks.

andrew: #13 is an Echinopsis Schick Hybrid, can't think of the name off the top of my head but they are all magnificent.
#29 is Pelecyphora asseliformis, have had this plant for many years and it blooms regularly

cactusmcharris: No, I have never even been to a show believe it or not. I've been to some local society meetings but that's about it. One of these days...

tt, yes that is a spider, he has made residence in that Cotyledon. Every single plant in these photos goes in the garage during the winter. Only the Avonia quinaria enjoys supplemental light along with some Mesemb cousins. The unheated greenhouse over the winter is reserved for only the hardiest plants like some Agave + Yucca (and Aloe polyphylla for most of the winter).

Glad you all enjoyed the photos in this resurrected thread. There's another post with non-flowers and some non-succulents that I will bump up.

That's even more unbelievable. Are we talking a garage with no supplemental lighting, or do you run some HIDs out there? I know we have talked about this...I am trying to recall...

Wouldn't it have been just peachy to have names for all the pics, so we don't have to ask?

tt - I have a 1500W HID lamp that gives me about 9 sq ft of good light, reserved for Mesembs and other little plants that benefit from it. The rest of the garage is essentially dark, with only 2 small windows. All my cactus stay on shelves along a side wall. The big Aloes and Cycads sit in pots along another side wall. Everything else goes wherever there is room.

I can modify the length of dormancy. The more tropical things like some Pachy and Adenium are transferred to the living room in early March. Too many months of cold is not good for them.

Names - a few I don't recall, have to check labels if anyone really wants to know.

Dude, I know this thread is about flowers, but you just freed up some space in my sunroom...so, thanks!

And, you know what that means...I can get more plants!

    # 16 looks more like a Parodia. I cannot find what plant "Eriosyce catamarcensis" refers to, the name seems to be very dubious.
