Question about sweet potato vines...

This is my first year using these in my outdoor pots and I love them! I have realized that when they get too long, it's easy to make new plants by cutting them and sticking them in some water. Once they have grown roots (only a couple days) I plant them in other pots. The darker ones, though, I have not been able to do that.

My question is what do you do with them during the winter. Do you just throw them out and buy new plants or do you try and save them inside somehow till spring?
