I saw the crape myrtle! So....I decided that you are in zone 7-9. I am in zone 9. You can correct plants with your zone.

You're property looks like it's located in Southern CA. Did you know you can get a rebate for grass that you remove? Some cities have it as high as $3 a sq ft. You might want to think about this if you want to go drought tolerant. Here is a suggestion and there are more under the drought tolerant section of my houzz projects. If you need help designing in Southern CA I live out here and can help and source plants for a good price if you are doing the work yourself.
