I planted this in the spring along with about a dozen other varieties. After months of heat, sun, and monsoon-like rains, it is one of the few that has survived and is actually doing the best just ahead of periwinkle and impatiens. I have it in partial shade. In addition to its great survival skills, I think it is beautiful, fascinating, and how many plants come in salmon color? It is the star of my garden!

I purchased one about 3 weeks ago and it's withering. It gets partial sun and I kept it moist so I don't know what went wrong. It put on another bloom before the leaves just went limp and it's been down hill ever since. Ideas, anyone?

Hey Amyta: Out of the 12 that I originally planted, one did the limp leaf thing like yours. It will not respond no matter what I do. I just bought some more at Wal Mart for 76 cents, and so far they are doing the best in dappled shade. I saw some big ones at another store, but so far none of my "shade" group have grown that big. One store even listed them as a full-sun plant, but most say partial shade. It is odd that they are often left out of gardening books and internet sites. The only yellow ones I have found were at Lowe's, all the rest have been salmon.
