One of my neighbors uses an electric one and I stand there and watch sometimes. There's been a couple of close calls with the cord. I think a battery powered one is a better idea than one you plug in.

I went to Home Depot and was looking at the many models of weedeaters when I spotted two or three brands that were battery powered. I picked the one that wasn't the cheapest or the most expensive but seemed to have a reasonable amount of power. You need to go see for yourself what is available (price, power, weight, size)before you choose.
