Dog Repel??? HELP!

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help with a concern I have? I apologize if this is not the right place to post (I am new here). I was at my Home Center and thought I bought Cat Grass...once home my two dogs were all over it, chewing on it like crazy and seemed to like it...it wasn't until I took a closer look at the label to see that it was actually "Dog Gone Colius Cannis". I have never heard of this and I'm just so nervous. Is it safe for dog's to ingest? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, it's a plectranthus, whether it's harmful or not is I guess debatable... this site doesn't say it is, and you are living proof that it doesn't work always

Here is a link that might be useful: cannis coleus

Dogs, like cats can sometimes eat anything. About the only cat grass I have seen is actaul blades of grass of some type, with no stems or leaves. Catnip is also welcomed for cats. Dogs will eat grass when they need to have a laxative at times. Keep an eye on them. Sometimes nurseries too will missmark things. This has happened to me to many times to mention. I prefer to grow most everything from known seeds.

Blimey! That is one bad case of wrong labelling! Catgrass is Dactylis glomerata, and how anyone could copy that as Plectranthus ornatus, syn. Coleus canis defeats me entirely! That's Dogbane, supposed to repel dogs and cats, but which doesn't always, as you've learned. It has succulent-type leaves. A close relative, Coleus amboinicus, is the herb we humans use when we don't know which herb to use - Mother of Herbs, also known as Queen of Herbs, Five in One Herb, Five Seasons Herb, Allherb, Country Borage, Indian Borage, Five Spice Herb, Chinese Three in One, Broad Leafed Thyme, Spanish Thyme, Spanish Sage, Puerto Rican Oregano (and many other names as well.)

Of course, we could take a more merciful view of the nursery - people browsing plants will often lift up a label to read it, then put it back in the wrong pot.

Cats and dogs both adore catgrass, and will go to great lengths to get at it. It looks like any other clumping grass.

You don't say what your plant looks like, but it would be unusual if your dogs chewed Dogbane to that extent! It's unlikely to do them much harm if they did.

Gee, that Indian Borage, Spanish Thyme, etc. was a plant somone was actually searching for here. Just for fun, I also tried a search and could not find it either as seeds, plants or even dried..

Hello, my female dog keeps digging this already humongous tunnel that the larger male dog started some years back. I've repremanded her, took her to the hole told her to stop... trapped her in the tunnel for a few minutes and finally locked her in the cage to punish her. But evertime I fill it back up and let her loose I come back to find its dug up again. There are three dogs in the backyard, two neutered males, but I don't want to chain her up to stop her from doing this. Worst, she's not spayed yet and my biggest worry is that this hole they've created will only be an opening for another dog to make his way through.

Now I know I shouldn't worry what with the three of them back there and the fact that she won't go too far; if she gets so much as a few inches away from the biggest male his manly bark will send her rushing back, but I'm not worried about her so much as what could be brought to her.

Is there an herb that I can put in and over the hole to discourage her from digging?
