Help ID Mint problem/pest/disease

Hi there,

I've searched the forums and also perused the last several threads in this forum so hopefully this hasn't been seen a zillion times!

Anyway, I have a peppermint plant which, earlier in the summer, started to get eaten up by what seemed like thrip larvae or something, leaving silvery tracts through the leaves. Long story short I ended up taking a healthy cutting from the plant (chopping down the rest), washing it very well, and rooting it in its own little pot far away from its injured parent.

Now, this new peppermint has started to go downhill. It has lots of little black specks on the undersides of the leaves, starting from the lower leaves closest to the roots. Some of the lower leaves also have black spots on top. And there is some yellowing as well. I haven't found any bugs on or near it. It's in a small terracotta pot. I've been giving it water whenever it feels dry, which is pretty often in this heat, however a few weeks ago I missed it for a day or two and it got a bit stressed and droopy, but came back after watering.

interestingly, the parent plant sprang back and looks wonderful and healthy, no spots or anything.

I've posted some photos, apologies for the bad quality though.

Thanks in advance,
