ruined jam?

Hi! I'm new to this forum but it has been extremely helpful to me this year as I used the search tool frequently.

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this but thought I would double check. I have a batch of raspberry jam that I made in the spring...my mom taught me how to make it and I've been making it on my own for about 5 years...she however, taught me to invert to seal. Since the spring, I've done a ton of reading because I knew we were going to can pickles, tomatoes, and more jam and now realize that inversion is not safe. I have never had a problem before this year. I went to get a jar the other day and noticed that the lids were bulging instead of being inverted (they all popped within the normal timeframe of putting in jars) and there was jam seeping out the sides. I opened one and it smelled like wine (there was no mold however). I immediately threw that one away.

Is this whole batch ruined? Should I open them all individually to see if there is a "seal" on them? Any ideas what's going on in there?? haha

Thanks for the info!

(my fall batch of jam is just fine, esp. since I did a BWB)
