I planted a young Crab Apple Tree in the fall of 2007. It has lots of branches that sprawl out and bend over. During the heavy snow and ice, the 2 middle main leaders broke towards the top. Will this tree grow properly? I'm hoping that new branches will grow out from the central leaders and maybe I could direct them upwards using some sort of homemade device. Maybe gently tying a rope or some kind of cloth to force it to grow upwards would work.
