Al's is one of the best as is Portland Nursery.

I've seen interesting things at Portland Nursery in the past. Al's I haven't been to. Mostly now, when in the area I go to Cistus (on Sauvie Island).

She is sure to find something lovely to take home and plant in her garden at Al's.

Al's is very nice. My favorite nursery that is in the vicinity of Al's is this place: Ferguson's Fragrant Nursery. They specialize in fragrant plants and have things I didn't know existed--such as fragrant azaleas. Their selection is great and they have beautiful gardens to walk through as well.

Many azaleas are fragrant, actually - albeit some more than others. Oregon native western azalea (Rhododendron occidentale) smells of carnations.

I just dropped a couple hundred at Al's and could have spent a lot more. Great place.

I am partial to Gardeners Choice. I went out to Al's after it first opened in Sherwood and was disappointed with their selection of trees and shrubs. Things may have changed since then. I go to Gardeners choice all the time and can pretty much depend on them to have whatever I want.

However, I would never complain if anyone gave me a gift certificate to ANY gardening place!
