Ferguson's Fragrant Nursery is in St. Paul, Southwest of Portland
Heirloom Old Garden Roses is also in St. Paul. They both have display gardens. Nice to visit even if you don't buy anything.

Schreiner's Iris Gardens are in full bloom, they are North of Keizer, South of Portland right off I5. They have a nice display garden with many perennials mixed with the Iris.

Portland Nursery, two locations in SE Portland is a very large general garden center, as is Al's which is in Sherwood.

I like Shorty's Garden Center on Mill Plain in Vancouver.

This is probably the most unusual one in the area. Of the same style as the now-departed Heronswood, although smaller. It's where I go.

I just took the train down to Portland with a friend. Another friend picked us up and we spent about 3 hours at Cistus Design on Sauvie Island -- one of the best nurseries on the West Coast. (www.cistus.com) The coolest plant I saw there (and I think we left a few) was Aciphylla glaucescens. I love that nursery and I love the drive there on the island. It's in the Columbia River and not too far from the city of Portland.
