I have one, now 3 years 5 months in the ground. It's a sweet little tree, an understory tree with a thin canopy. It's about 10' tall and 6' wide, and this spring got some of those pretty tiny flowers. Planted a Zebrina western red cedar next to it which since variegated grows more slowly than the straight species. But eventually the Zebrina will be growing over the redbud.

It has not grown fast in my yard but isn't slow either. My trees are still busy getting established, don't know the growth rate after it's finally settled and happy in its spot.

Thanks for the response. I think I will give it to my son and d-i-law who don't have as much deer problem as me. I'll be able to tell them what to expect from it.
