Gardens to visit in Oregon?

Hi all. I apologize if this is not an appropriate message forthis forum, but I hope you will help me out! My dh has a conference in Portland OR toward the end of July and I am joining him once its over. We are going to the coast then down and then over to Crater Lake Nat'l park then up to some hotsprings then back to Portland for a few days and then back to NH. He is so organized he's already made reservations everywhere. Are there any gardens that we should try to visit? We have guide books but what do you all particularly recommend?

This is not a nursery, but when you are on the coast you have to take a very short side trip to the Darlingtonia Wayside to see the carnivouous pitcher plants in the bog.

It might help to know which highway routes you are taking across to and from the coast.

Berry Botanic Garden, Portland.

Cistus nursery, near Portland.

Classical Chinese Garden, Portland.

Elk Rock Garden, near Portland.

Hoyt Arboretum, Portland.

Most if not all of these have web sites.

The Oregon Garden, Silverton

International Rose Test Garden and Japanese Garden both in Portland, same parking lot. Rose garden is free.

Multnomah Falls near Portland. Not a garden but a must see for all visitors to Oregon. Best to take the old scenic highway rather than I84. Tad's Chicken and Dumplings that you'll pass on the way has wonderful food.

Ecola State Park, Cannon Beach OR is also an outstanding visit.
