callistemon citrinus is one species at least that will bloom in the fall if conditions are mild---it is borderline in much of the pnw (except in the mildest areas) but it is probably the most common bottlebrush in cultivation in california and mild mediterranean climate areas of southern europe.

I would assume it was that one also. Not a "hardy" subalpine species so it remains active late in the year.

I'm sure you are right as to the variety. They looked exactly the same as the one I have here.
