Paint, Counters, Appliances and Backsplash will bring it up to date but if the budget fits demo and renovate. Light, white and modern is my suggestion. Thermofoil cabinets are a great option.

For both bathrooms (and especially the yellow one) have a professional company come in a reglaze the tile in white or cream. Don't try to remove that tile, now or at a later date, as it most likely contains lead.

Change the lighting from Hollywood strip lighting to sconces.

In my opinion, the gilded mirror frame does nothing for this bathroom, I would either paint the frame all one color or change it alltogether.

Replace the vertical blinds with a nice curtain, that window is small and this should be inexpensive enough.

If the tile is in good shape work with the colors. I agree with Kelli. Tone the mirror down or find a retro choice also lights should go retro or sconce Good ideas Bobbi

I'm with Kelli too. I don't ever rip something out just because I don't like the color. If it is in good condition and is of good quality, design around the color. You can always make it work if you choose the right color combo.

See: Have you thought of Caesarstone for countertops? I think something like thses dark grey tops would look good.

Is the design on your cabinetry applied? Perhaps you could remove the detail and have the finish removed and redone. Patch the holes where the upper cabinet hardware is and move it to a more conventional position. A darker stain with chrome hardware would look good.

I agree, make the bathrooms work and have fun with it. You can find so many amazing, fabulous wall papers that will compliment the bathroom. But to add a little modern flair to it, change those vanity lights, and a framed mirror will help bring it up to date. Then add a couple hand towels and accessories to the counters.

If the tile in the bathrooms is in good condition, you can have a professional reglaze, similar to painting and sealing. It only takes a couple days and is about 1/3 the cost of replacing the tile. The sinks, tubs, shower can also be done. Colors are available, but a classic choice in older bathrooms like this would be a bright white. This may not be the forever solution, but it will give you a good number of years.

In the kitchen, I'd change out all the hardware. Those angled handles on the upper cabinets really bother me, but it will likely be difficult to hide the repair to those holes. The minty formica countertop really is humorous next to the rustic brick of the double oven surround. If you like the rustic look, pursue a natural or faux stone countertop as it would fit nicely with the brick and cabinets.

First make lists for likes and don't like for each room, then ask yourselves what is possible and how much will it COST. Review after two weeks, without consciously think about them, keep a suggestion note pad handy after you set the questions aside. You will be surprised how your questions may be answered.
