What is a plant train???

this was from the plant exchange posting I'm thinking it's really a round robin but only the little train that could chug around the country with odd plants and tubers!

Well, I will make up a box with a bunch of different plants and tubers and send it to the first person on the list! in turn they will take out what they want and refill it up with their plants and send it on the the next person on the list and so on until it gets back to me! They are so fun and a great way to get some new plants for what you have a bunch of!!

I would love to join! If possible, could I be really close to the beginning of the list? It's getting so hot-soon, I won't be able to plant anything without it withering.

This sounds like sooo much fun!

I'm wondering the same thing too in this awful summer heat, and how many days a box might be in transit, depending on what day of the week it is mailed and how far it is going...also about whether or not plants that are hardy in a warmer zone would just be annuals in a colder zone.

Please look at the post on the plant exchange about this..Fran brought up some very good points about how disasterous this could be with plants, not just in the summer but any time of year.

Plants are not meant to be in a box in transit for to long..this train has the potential to kill many plants especially the ones people dont want right off.

There are to many things that can go wrong with this..this kind of round robin type exchange is best done with seeds and maybe bulbs. Definitly not plants.
