Well, holy prego-gardeners. Good thing you hatched, jamie! What fun, happy pictures! Thanks for sharing them.

hmmmm well, i have sent out 2 packages to my pal (june/july) but have yet to receive any secret pal packages of my own. i noticed a few posts said that they send out June and July packages together recently...maybe i'll see something?

My family (parents, brother, sister...well Lucy the family weimeriner ). I am a new (and single) gardener so it is fun to get some family help - mom gave me a Lady in Red Hydrangea and some coneflowers (since they are native missourians).

This weekend i also went to a friend's house who gave me some passion flower seeds (anyone know anything about that??) and some hens and chicks -- what cute little plants! Gardeners are just so darn friendly i feel greedy asking if they would share their hard work and let me sneak a cutting...i took home a whole little family of hen and chicks (what are they blooms, cuttings, whatever, they're cute). I think i would like to have a little succulent garden -- there are so many neat ones!

okay - hope everyone stays cool!

    :o) Amber

P.S. if anyone is near Kansas City or would like to see one of our bragging points, take a look at Powell Gardens -- i just signed up to volunteer a few times so i can learn more gardening expertise!!!

...oh and i live about 3 blocks from this neat garden memorial. The fountains you see "jump" by sending a squirt of water from one side of the garden, over your head to another. And there is a garden cat who lives there named Tom. It is such a beautiful garden!

    Hello everyone,
I'm glad to know everyone is doing good. I am currently in the process of moving to a new house because of my problem. I will be in a nice 3 bed 3 bath brick home in another town so everything should be good there. I come over here to my moms and check in about once a week. i have not been back to my house yet and now i am only going to move things. my flowers will be moved next spring and summer because of the move and going back to work thursday i will be busy with the 2 kids adjusting to the new house and the new room we will have teh only drawback is a bare bare yard but i look at it as a new playground for new ideas and places to put flowers from all my GW friends that has helped me out so far wiith their kindness. I will take a pic of the new house and post as soon as i can I am in th eprocess of cleaning and bleaching the new house now bwfore we move in and cleaning the weeds that have grown up everywhere. There is a nice sized fig tree and a grape vine there and i did see a few lilies but have no clue the color i saw a few iris also and a lovely pink crepe mertle tree in the front. it is the only house down a long gravel rd about 1/2 mile and there is cotton fields all around very nice place and a great area for kids to play in the yard with no worries of traffic. we are gonna have alot to do but hopefully with the help of friends and family we will be fine. Amber still has not reiceved june or july pkgs from her pal. She has sent her pkgs to her pal everymonth so i need her pal to contact me to let me know if you are still participating in the swap or do we need a repalcement.
Hope all is well and tina the kids are doing great and charges have been pressed so maybe no more harm will be done and we will be fine. Thnak you all for yalls support i miss chatting with everyone and reading post daily but will have the computer back up and running in no time.

I'm having so much fun here! It is a slow time in the garden for me. I gathered some daylily seeds last night. Thought I would give growing them from seed a try. The hybiscus are out doing themselves with blooms.

We had a nice turn out for the pond tour. Hubby counted 88 visitors. 10 min. after it was over my son's dog fell in the pond. He swam right thru the lily pads and out the other side. It was the perfect ending to a long day.

I'm patiently waiting for my July package. I hope it comes soon :)

The Japanese beetles (arggg, hate those things) are doing a number on some plants in my garden. Funny how they choose which ones they like. Hubby said he would spray but hasn't gotten it done yet. I would do it myself but I'm afraid I would grab the sprayer with the weed killer in it. I don't know which he uses for which.

I was wondering if anyone knows where on the web I would find craft swaps like this. I tried to post this before and it got pulled off of the board. Not garden related enough.

    Happy Gardening,
    Joy

    HAPPY DAY!

My daughter brought in my July package and forgot to tell me about it. It was a nice surprise when I came across it this morning. My package was stuffed full of wonderful things. Let me see if I can remember, IÂm writing this post from work. There was a tube of wildflower seeds and some blue petunia seeds, an impatient kit with a little pot. The most beautiful canna mug. Cannas are one of my new passions. Some daylily seeds. I collected some daylily seeds last week and had just read up on how to grow them. I canÂt wait to try my success at this new endeavor. There was a little egg with seeds for "flower pot tomatoes" That will be fun to see how they grow. I found a red white and blue spinner tucked in. I will hang this out on the patio when I get home from work. A resin Teddy bear all decked out in his red white and blue, he is sooooo cute. A tiny wood rocking chair that holds a little pot in the seat. Some citronella candles and an Off mosquito coil. That will be so wonderful next time we sit out by the pond after dark. The mosquitoes ran us in the other night. A very pretty flower note pad with a matching pen. I will bring that to work with me tomorrow. Also a fish magazine. I wish I would have found the package over the weekend, the magazine would be read by now! I have all of these things to look forward to when I get off work today. Thank you so much SP. You really put together a great package that just made my day, no week!

    HAPPY GARDENING!!!

    Hey Guys,
I just checking in! I've been very busy lately with work and haven't had much time for gardening. The days here have been in the 90 degree range all week, whew...it's hard to garden in that kind of weather! It feels like I'm getting burnt the whole time I'm digging and planting!! Oh my, I'm sorry to here Amber hasn't received a box from her SP! I know the feeling it's happened to me before. Amber, please stay and let us "make it up to you" for the one person who failed to carry through! Don't let one bad apple spoil the whold bunch!! Ten's say she has a new SP for you!

DAYLILYMOM: You are so lucky, to have a wonderful husband to build you a greenhouse! I've always wanted one, so I can garden in the Extremely Cold Indy Winters! I'm going to try some winter sowing this year, wish me luck! I've read a few GW forums and it sounds so interesting!
I hope everyone is getting plenty of raining and sunshine for your gardens and for those of us with school aged kids, I hope your 'back to school' experiences go smoothly!

I received my package today. Inside is postcards, grade tracker, a barrette, a pencil with the bark on the outside, cuticle and hand care cream, pair of cotton hand care gloves, seed envelope cut-outs, craft thread, and two things which I am not sure what they are. 1). A bottle of liquid on a green box. Has a nice scent. 2). 3 big bulbs. Garlic maybe?

Thank you for all of the things that you sent. My daughter will be happy to see the seed packets to cut out. That is one of her favorite things to do :-)
If you could let me know what the bulbs and liquid are, I would greatly appreciate it!

Also wanted to let me secret pal know that your box is going to be on it's way next week! Have been extremelty hectic around here with school starting next Wednesday. PArt of me is looking forward to it, and the other part isn't :-(.

The liquid is from a recent trip to France where I went to a world famous distillery that practices in aromatherapy using authentic flower essences instead of any thing artifical and they make these perfumes concentrates by using a brass copper kettle to distill flowers which they grow from their property.
The cloves I mailed yuo should smell of freeshly grown garlic which I grew organicly from my own garden, which has been an organic garden for many many years, never has chemicals been used in my gardens ever! YOu may eat the juicy garlic now or take the cloves apart and grow your own by sowing them this fall ( break up the cloves)for next year. The garlic was purchased organically from Johnny seeds 2004 and I believe it is either a russian hard neck or a newyork hardneck variety, I grew 4 types and not sure which of the four I sent( I harvest over 200lbs of it). The barrett was a purchase I made off of ebay- its a 1950's hair barrett that is becoming a collectors item, I believe it is made by goody one of their first prototypes.
The pencil came from a recent trip to Maines back woods in upper state Katadin area. I thought how nice to find something that wastn made of plastic.
I am not sure what the grade tracker you speak of is, cant remember what that might be.

Iam sorry but this will be the last time I will be sending you anything per our private emails. I apologize to the group but my gifts simply are not within the expectations of the group in the round robins and I refuse to shop at dime stores and dollar stores as to supprt this type of mentality.

    Hello everyone,
I want to apologize to everyone i t has been so hectic trying to get unpacke dand with the 2 boys and with work. the kitchen sink broke so i ve been using the one in th eutlity room which is down the hall and trying to fix this and that. boy i never knew how much work would be involved in buying a house and fixing it up. i have to paint the bath rooms and replace the paneling in them and the tile in the master bath has to be replaced this sink is in the progress my step dad and boyfriend are at walmart getting some stuff i forgot at the hard ware store. I don't get in til around 6:30 and bythe time supper is fixed and baths are given i am usually pooped but i am going to try so much harder to post on here and have everything up to date. i have to apologize becasue i haven't even turned the computer on in about 2 weeks or atleast since the last time i posted. My boyfriends younger brotehr comes and borrows it for school reports but that is about the extent of its use. If ther eis any thing i need to clear up please let me know.

    LILIYROSEViolet:
when everyone agreed to play we did not set a limit on the gifts because not everyone can afford expensive things and we all agreed that it was the friendship and the thought that was the most important. Me myself i buy from where ever i see something that i think my pals will enjoy whether it cost 10 bucks or 1 dollar. This robin is not a robin of expensive gifts but friendship and having and sharing memories of our gardens and lives. If yu feel that you can't no longer play please emailk me so that you can be replaced but another gardener. i am so sorry you feel the way you do about the gifts.

Hello - all. I started out a pretty enthusiastic newbie...but got a little sad after 3 months of no packages in exchange. Darn, it happens. So i had decided to drop out. But i did get a sweet little package today stuffed with neat items! I certainly should not keep it, so i am forwarding on to my previous pal. I'll add my gifts to the package as well and send it on its way - Double treats for mine (actually late, though).

I have found a local gardening friend - we swap garden gifts here and there and she and i have even split a mail order planned garden (great for a newbie to start with!!).

So Miss Jamie thank you for all of your hard work and cheerful leadership! Please connect the new person that you had assigned to me with my pal whom i was assigned to.

Thanks to all for the chats! happy gardening!!

I posted here yesterday, but it is gone. DonÂt know if the post got lost in cyberspace or what. The person I send to has not posted that they received July or Aug. packages. I don't need all the flower thank yous, but it sure is nice. I wa wonder number one if they are ok, number two if they got the packages and number three if they are sending packages to the person they are assigned. I know Jamie is overwhelmed right now and was wondering if someone else would like to try to contact this person. Email me if you would like to find out if they are still in the swap.

Its not about expensive gifts...in fact I dont like to buy anything, I enjoy making things or sharing things that I have in abundance that I think others can use.

I would not want anyone to send me expensive gifts that would embarrass me.

Plants, seeds, cuttings garden related things.

When we start purchasing non garden related items and it comes from walmart or a dime store, I feel the spirit is compromised and I dont shop or buy from those places because I sont want to support the large box stores that are of no use in my life.

I recently discovered that after harvesting garlic grown organicly that I was accused of sending OLD moldy garlic. NOt only was my heart broken, I sensed the spirit of gift giving was an expectation to shop at walmart and sent each other cheap plastic gifts which I have no use for in my home. I'd rather not support something that I dont believe in.

This may insult many, I am sorry, but hand painted cards, cuttings, pillows made of pine needles...thats what Iam about, I may pass along antique memoriabilia that I have laying around the house in hopes that someone would get a smile going back to memory lane with it. I may even send something that was given to me but I have no use for it and I just felt it would be better suited as a gift to someone else.

Please count me out when it comes to supporting items made by 3rd world countries and the people who made them were abused and not paid well.

Most people dont care, but being responsible for what you purchase makes a difference in someones life other than you and me, I am trying to be responsible and not support products that come from companies that are unkind to the people who manufactor it. Ignoring that doesnt make it stop and it doesnt make it alright.

I really enjoy round robins, I guess I should start a new one and call it Organic Round Robin or Handmade or from the earth Only.

If I offended anyone, I apologize again, and thank you for allowing me to be in this round robin, but I believe that I am just not mainstream enough to participate.

    All the best-
