I've been tearing out beans, last of the tomatoes, and mostly looking at my fallen over compost bin that has now turned into a heap and thinking I should do something about that.

I work an organic garden in my back yard where grass used to grow. My garden is free from chemical pesticides, so I do have bug problems on some plants.

I've been harvesting my second crop of Fortex green beans, coaxing my butternut squash along, watching the pumpkins develop, and watch the broccoli, collards, Brussels sprouts, leeks, green peppers and eggplant grow. Since October 7th, I've picked 23 pounds of snap beans from my second crop. Thank goodness for canning! My potatoes in barrels have been bitten off by black little caterpillars again. I guess I'll plant more beets in the barrels instead of potatoes. My heritage raspberries are fruiting again. I only have five bushes, or sprigs actually. Although the plants are still small, I harvested 125 raspberries from them during the first harvest. They're not even six months old.

That's some of what I'm doing this time of year. One thing that really helped me get to this stage in gardening is to track all my garden information in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. None of us can remember everything, especially me.

I'm trimming, raking, potting-up and trying to keep things
in order as I go along. Some transplanting is always in
the mix. I love chores in the garden...even the weeding :).
Still have lots to do but gardening is never done.
