I could use some experise. I am helping a friend with a remodel and need advise with tile flooring for a ground floor are of approximately 2000 sq feet. One room flows into the next. This is a beautiful large home at the top of a hill surounded by trees with a view of the valley below. She would like a more elegent feel to her home but wants to keep the earthy feel. She mentioned doing some kind of tile pattern on the floor using a mix of the same tiles but in different sizes. I thought that would be a mistake and that using all 24" tiles would be a better option. She wants beautiful tile that will withstand 3 large dogs, her and her husband, lots of friends when entertaining but that will not need to be retreated every year. Her upstairs will be done in all hardwood flooring. I wanted to suggestbamboo for its beauty and wearability. She afraid to do hardwood downstairs due to the dogs and the amount of dirt and water they drag in day to day and during the rainy season. Please offer your opinions.
