I think, since you like it, you should take the blue color in the comforter, make a bit deeper in tone and put that on the walls. And if you don't, you should still stay inthe green-blue color range. It goes well with the brown, and it has a nice calming effect which is good for a bed room.

Here's some photos I took this morning to show how to make a wintersowing container out of a pop bottle. I hope they are clear enough to tell what I did. I used magic marker to hopefully make it easier to understand. When soil is in the container, the top will not come off. Oh, and the cap is on the bottle in the photos, but it should not be on for winter sowing. Also, don't forget to poke holes in the bottom for drainage.

This shows where to cut around the bottle. Notice it is more than 1/2 way up. You want to have 3" of soil and then some room above the 3". If you run a box cutter around it cuts pretty easily.

I've only WS once and really enjoyed it. So plan to do it again this year. I read myself silly last year learning. I only used milk jugs and think they worked very well.
Maybe after solstice, I'll post a pic of some of my milk jugs.

Sassy - The bedroom set is absolutely gorgeous! Do you decorate in a certain style: country, cottage, shabby chic, contemporary?
That might help us gals to pick and choose colors and such.
The set could be used in almost any decor.

"Candy Houses" and candle figures. I learned to make these candy houses as a kid and had such fun with them. Unlike gingerbread, they can keep from year to year wrapped in plastic.

My girlfriend that I was telling you about and I both thought that the bedroom set is beautiful, the comforter she said she could live with but shse also wants to know what color walls..
We also looked at a bunch of comforters in our catelogs today. and I like Lands end Quilt 16667-0592 in chalk white. I like this because it has a pattern but it is simple. I think that you are taking away from the beauty of the bed, by adding the comforter that is so busy. Now it Totally depends on what you like and I am just giving you my opinion becuse you wanted it.. (maybe now you don't). I think that I would buy the Euro Shams and the decorative pillows to add to the Lands End set. This way your eye is drawn to the beauty and magnitude of the bed. Not the bedset. If that makes sense. I would then choose a a paint color I would chose Behr brand paint and I went to home Depot and Chose the following colors: In the Greens family I chose Bosten Fern 410-f5, Grape Vine 410-f6 as well as 410-f7. Depending on how dark that you want to go. I would also consider what type of sun that you have for this room because the darker you go the darker the room. If you have a westward evening sun that comes into this room and the lighting that you have is not so bright, your green will look even darker.
I have also chosen from the brown family mochachino number 740d-4 in the neutrals, oat straw 740c-3 as well as Wild honey 760c-3 and finally Sand Fossil 770c-3. I think that if you have a small room or a poor lite room stay in the lighter tans.. But the bed has green in it I think? It is hard to tell in the picture.. But keep it simple and accessorize like h***.. I mean do what you like but I usually buy something and then after say 5 years I think I'd like a change. SO I try to keep it neutral and use my other things like the bed spread and the things I hang to 'make' the room.. I have two comfortors one dark brown and very 'rich' looking (35.00) for Winter and a very nice tan or ecru color for the summer. Then I add decorative pillows of which I get from Speigel on sale.. All colors and sizes that I can pick from.. That way I have a beuatiful assortment of nice pillows and I did not spend the price for the spread.

Ps.. You are talking to someone who goes to Salvation Army and finds her Decorations and then paints them to match my Decor..

Sassy-My kitchen walls are all narrow so if you have big walls (like my DD's kitchen has) the red is really pretty. I have had the kitchen red for almost a year now and still like it.

I should really take pics of my home. I took almost 900 hundred pics of the gtrdens this year and didn't take one pic of any houseplants or the home.

My kitchen is red also! :-)
My cabinets are barn red, and my walls are wallpapered in a checkered type (small) cream, red and black. I have my rooster collection displayed in there. We are putting down hardwood flooring in the spring. When we bought this house, it was in real bad shape, but with its history and size, we just couldn't pass it up. So there is still lots of work to be done. It's a diamond in the rough :-)
My livingroom is now done in a venecian (sp?) plaster look, all wicker and old world looking pine furniture, and we carpeted it for comfort. It's in a golden hue. Of couorse it looks like a jungle with with all of my houseplants. We are getting ready to do the diningroom. right now it is yellow. Not quite sure what I am going to do with it yet.
Our bedroom is currently under construction as well, gee imagine that, LoL.

It seems a never ending process, but someday............

Hey Ladies.. I just got done painting my dad's gift.. Yeah I am a slacker.. I for the first time ever used a jig-saw a HUGE ole file and Painted something other than a wall.. Tell me what you think..

My pets won't stay still for a photo...sometimes I wonder if they have avian ADHD. *facepalm* You have no idea how much I envy your calm and sane birds, skohler and cedarnest...

As for winter projects I've decided to take up sketching plants. The hope is that, this time next year, I'll have built up a collection good enough to start giving away to friends who like these things. First attempt here: (the strokes got a little too messy...and I'll know to begin with a thicker pen for the next try)

I did actually find one that I'm going with for $85, and can sleep at night too! I just didn't have it in me to pay that much for a comforter.
