You can't blame a scavenging animal for doing its job. Even if you did kill it, something else would come along and do the same thing.

Something digs up my plants, I will kill it, period.

A camera will cost more than changing fertilizer.

Now is when your common sense should kick in. You proved to yourself that your bright idea (as you put it) doesn't work the way you'd hoped. Time to try something else. And have some compassion. You did put out food so someone hungry came along and tried to get at it. Cause and effect is evident.

The jury is in. One container has cat food mixed in, the others had Tomato Tone. The one plant thriving is the one that had cat food. The others are dead or dying. I have no doubt what I will use next year. The plant with cat food is still growing and is 5 times the size as the others and still blooming. We'll see what a Miami summer does to it. Next season I will buy a huge bag of cat food even if I have to go to Costco.

I hope your plant dies so that you can stop enticing innocent animals to your garden to be killed by you!

I agree. Anyone with a lick of sense would not use cat food after some critter dug up the container. And, about the results difference between the cat food and Tomato Tone? I don't believe a word of it.

It seems like we are all of a sudden getting a lot of people posting silly stuff, first the Weetabix one and now this. I wonder if they all know each other.

I think some of the "Organic" stuff are just like cat/dog food: Like bone meal, blood meal, corn meal, .."Organic" as fertilizer is made from the remains of living things and vegetation. Obviously those are not synthesized and have to come from a living (organic) source. So, if cat food is economical, why not use it ? It is mostly made from the same raw material that some organic fertilizers are made.

Once I had some bone meal in my garden shack. It was all gone. The rats ate it all.
