That's the old style igniter. The new one (circa 2014) is solid porcelain so there is nowhere for food or liquid to trap and crack. I'm not saying that the new ones are bullet proof, but that have to be better than the ones like are pictured (and originally came on my range top).

I really don't get it. You buy an expensive range and leave it broken for 6 months hoping to save $15 on a part.
