Am I missing additional bedrooms? Or is this a 2 bedroom house? Since you have a powder room, I would make the second bath ensuite to the second bedroom by bumping the wall out flush to the hallway. You would then need to change the entry to the laundry room.

Stacking the stairs would free up floor space. I also don't think you allocated enough space for your stairs.

There are a lot of windows on one side of the porch, but none on the other side. That asymmetry may look odd from the outside. Consider a window in the laundry room.

Maybe consider a half wall to separate the dining room from the entry. I think you will want something there to help delineate the space.

Thanks for the suggestions pixie_lou.

There will be two additional bedrooms and a bathroom in the basement.

As far as stacking the stairs go, I would like to keep the stairs to the basement nearer the bedrooms and the only upstairs we'll have will be above the garage, so that won't work. I've never lived in a house with stairs. How much space should I allocate?

I meant to put a window in the laundry room, good catch.

I was thinking of breaking up the dining room from the entry with some sort of ceiling feature such as a beam that goes from the front wall to a post, and the same running to the closet near the office.
