We are having 2 in the garage because we are in an area that has frequent power outages in storms. Did some research online and I think (stressâ¦. I think) the material price was $500-700 each. I don't know what the installation cost is broken out because we were going to do this all along so it's just absorbed in the contract. My understanding is it's not difficult to do by someone who knows what they are doing. Guess that applies to everything - in construction - and life!

My GC made it sound like the easiest thing in the world to do. I added one to what would have been a dark upstairs hallway and I love the light it brings in.

I think he charged me less than $500 to add this.

My opinion is that they are well worth the $500. It was money well spent in my case.

The unit itself is $200-$300, depending on size and brand. To install during new construction - piece of cake! Well worth it.

Those are great prices, here in Edmonton, Alberta the builders I worked for charged around $2500 minimum.

Really easy and should be inexpensive. We had a roofing company cut the holes and install the tops and flashing when we re-roofed and did the tube part later ourselves.

They are a PITA to retrofit, compared to how easy it is whole the roof it naked and the attics accessible.

Our neighbor installed his own in his old house, so it's not that big a deal. But the light they bring makes it well worth it. We have 2...one in our dressing room area and one in our mud room.

Easy peasy, 200-500 for the materials. My builder included the installation cost, but I know know the local certified solatube dealer charges around $200 each for instal.

Retro fit is essy! I had one put in when new roof put on. I watched-very easy. Love it-it is in a J&J bathroom. Now people try to turn the light off! Lol
