My Mom has the same set and has had no problems with it. I have also used it with no problems. You may be right about it being overloaded, as my experience with the Frigidaire Gallery series has been positive.

That's only a 5.7 cf dryer so it'd make sense that it's being overloaded. You didn't say which washer it is but IMO it's too small for a 3.5' unit if you use the 2-1 guideline for dryer sizing (would mean it fits a 2.85 cf washer) it's undersized but probably workable for a 3.2' washer as long as you don't load the machine full. You could split the loads, wash smaller loads or if you get a good enough price you could spend a few hundred and get a new and bigger dryer and eliminate the issue. Probably could even sell (or donate) the dryer again to recoup some expense.

I'm defninitely an advocate of having a large dryer. I've had undersized units and know the problems. It doesn't really cost more to get a 7.4 or 7.5 cf dryer and the extra room does make a difference on less wrinkled clothes and shorter drying times as a couple of reasons. I realize the manufacturers and most users bank on people not doing full loads all the time so they think that the extra space is only used part of the time, which has some merit, but the extra room still allows for better airflow which is important to drying clothes.

What types of things would catch?

They are supposed to be a matched set. The washer is a 3.5 cu. ft. capacity. They said they would get things like straps, shirt collars, & shirttails. I've had that kind of thing happen on my old dryer, but it stopped after I replaced the front guide assembly. This dryer is brand new compared to it (10 years).
