It appears that the covers sit in place without being attached to the wall. I'm sure they are perfectly straight and square and any gaps between an out-of-square wall and floor would be highly visible.

Another consideration is that conventional covers are smooth and rounded, whereas the retro covers have many nooks and crannies; a perfect place for dust to build up. And baseboard is a perfect dust recycler and collector.

So...has anybody done this?

They do look nice.

Owned by Acorn Mfg, which is a quality co.

I'll bet expensive, but great idea if you want to dress up a room such as a dining area.

From the looks of it, VERY expensive. The end caps are $150.

The cover runs are $6 a linear INCH.

At a base price of $72 a linear foot, it would likely be cheaper to replace the entire baseboard unit.

That said, they certainly do look nice.

so...what could you replace the baseboard unit with? I think mine are @25 yrs. old...

Well, it's possible that the maker of your baseboard units is still in business. There will probably be a manufacturer's name on them somewhere.

If the maker is still in business, you might be able to order new covers that will fit your existing units. I can't see that they would be any more expensive.

Barring that, and if you're feeling really industrious, you could replace the entire unit.

I purchased some baseboard radiator covers from this company a couple months back... they have great service and a beautiful product. They will give a good discount when buying a few lengths or more. I'm very happy and highly recommend them!
