I have had good luck with Krazy Glue, but only that brand, not knock offs. The trick is to not use too much, and to make sure it holds together till it's attached. Should bond in seconds, if it doesn't, you used too much.

In that case, take the pieces apart, let them dry and put a pin head size drop and start again.

Do not use Gorilla Glue, it expands out, even the clear. The only other thing I've used for gluing glass is Plumbers Goop, but it doesn't leave a seamless bond like Krazy Glue.

Who makes it? Do you have a picture of it? I have tons of Christmas stuff; have a few crystal & porcelain pieces I'm not attached to. If I have the same one & it's one I'm not attached to; you're welcome to have it

Krazy Glue applied with a toothpick should hold it together well.

roselvr, you are such a kind person :) I thought it was Waterford. $50 retail at Macys, on clearance for maybe $15. All it has is a blue ribbon attached and tiny silver/metal tag dated 2006, came in a navy blue box with silver manufacturer lettering (have the box but can't find it yet). I can find nothing from Waterford that resembles it from that year. Here is a photo, it was probably 3.5" point to point. (Sorry for quality, it was captured in a photo of something else, so I zoomed & cropped it out.)

It's Swarovski. They issue a new one each year. DS buys DIL every year. They're beautiful. You can replace it on ebay, though not cheaply.

dee, thank you! Just this morning I googled Swarovski but was looking at this year's, thinking I could find something similar. The price for '06 is pretty high. It's the particular shape of it I like so much. :/

Wonder if Krazy Glue will still work?
Can't believe what an airhead klutz I can be sometimes...mental pause moments are getting bad. All I had to do was take it down (like always) before wiping around the window, and it's like it didn't even dawn on me to do that. Sheesh...

I'll look in my stuff to see if I have anything similar. I don't think I own any Swarovski but I could be wrong. I also pick stuff up that's on clearance; I have a rubbermade bin that has all of my in case gifts.

The ebay prices aren't bad on some of them; they should go down after Christmas. I bet it would make for a beautiful tree if there were a bunch of them on it lol

I've used the linked product to repair the stems of glasses and flakes on porcelain plates. It's not perfect, but once adhered, it will never let go. Be sure to buy the clear, though.

Thanks for the links roselvr! Typo on my part, it's a 2005 not 2006. '05s are going for even more on eBay. (With some auctions having insane starting bids and no nibbles.) I had no idea they held their value + increased like they do. Although I wouldn't have sold it because it's something I enjoyed a lot, and why I left it out year round. One sold recently for $145 or so, but then another sold for $29 in October. I'd pay that. Guess I'll have to keep an eye out for a good deal, ornament prices will drop again on eBay once holiday has passed. Just browsing the 2011 anniversary star is very pretty, too!

moonshadow, this will be their tenth Christmas together. He missed buying one year and had to resort to ebay and pay that inflated price. He buys early now. :)

DH has purchased for me a couple of Swarovski pieces. One is a pineapple and I keep it in the DR window where every day I get to watch the rainbows on the ceiling and walls. The grandkids love seeing them too. It also gives me pleasure, so I understand. I have a pyramid, too, but a long-gone cat knocked it off the table and chipped it. It's still pretty.

If it's a Swarovski star, it will only go up in value. Sadly, I read that they are closing down their business. It's a shame, since they've produced such lovely pieces. All their crystal will now become much more valuable because it's the last that's available.

A few years ago I bought a green glass lamp from Target that was like 75% off on clearance for $12. They only had 1; had they had more; I would have bought it. I was spackling & had stuff all over. I figured why work on just one room? I moved stuff because hub was on the road for a few days & of course he ended up coming home before I could make the house decent.

As soon as he walked in & saw the house he got ticked off & I ended up breaking the lamp trying to rush while cleaning up everything. Of course the lamp was a one time thing; I was not able to replace it. The closest lamp I could find was a blue & $250. I found other shaped green glass lamps that I was not happy with & also ended up breaking. I now have a heavier blue lamp there & miss my green lamp. The shape was perfect.

If you're attached to the star; figure out the most you will pay for it then replace it now while you can.

Sorry about your lamp. :/ That's a pretty shade of green. I do like a colored glass lamp, makes me think of sea glass. (Thought about one for a bad-side table and could only envision pieces on the floor. 'Graceful' is not a strong suit.) What adds to the pain of these situations is the "it" factor and bonus "good score".

Well, the star is glued back together. Found a new (to me) Krazy Glue Gel, and it will work on glass. It comes out in very tiny drops that don't run. (That's a keeper, I have issues with the liquid...often involving my fingertips. Once I opened a new tube, couldn't get the liquid to come out at all, gave it one more good squeeze and not only did that set it free, it shot across the room like it was launched from a squirt gun.)

I didn't realize till the points came off how they were were attached, thought they were molded together in manufacturing somehow. Discovered little flat areas cut on the body and base of each point, and the faintest thin outlines like a prior adhesive would leave. Made it very easy to see where each piece went. Also made me realize there were actually 6 small star tips and I only had 4. Back to crawling around the floor. The 5th was tucked back under the foot of an end table. No sign of the 6th, probably swallowed up by my Roomba and inadvertently dumped in the trash. (Also found my cats' stash of new stuffed mice & a rat waaay back under the hutch. Wondered what happened to them. No doubt landed there after hockey puck slams and their little paws won't reach that far to retrieve them.) So I only put 4 short points on the front for visual balance. One of the large points did come off after I attached it, but after the second attempt seems OK now.

So my little star is hanging back in the window and I'm happy. Still looks just as pretty. Can't even tell anything happened to it unless you look really close. :)

Oh no! They are closing their business? I have a small collection of the crystal snowflakes and was slowly starting to buy the older ones! Nanny2a, do you remember where you heard that?

I wonder, nanny2a, if you're thinking of Steuben? They recently closed, but I've not heard anything about Swarovski.
