I have a platinum finished Bosch Nexxt 500 W/D and the top of the washer is now heavily scratched and dingy looking. We were really careful with it for about the first year after we first got it but it didn't matter -- it seemed like the littlest thing left on top would scratch it. Clearly not a porcelain finish.... just (not very well) painted metal.

Carol I have the white Samsungs. But because my laundry chute is in a cabinet directly over the dryer, I was concerned about scratches and dings. What I did was put a rug runner over the top. It cushions against dings and keeps stuff from falling between the cracks of the two units. You could also use a bath mat. Just a thought.

My washer is less than a year older scratches all over it. I was very disappointed I don't know many people that can keep everything off of their washer at all times I did used to put a rug on it as suggested in the previous post but if three kids it always got wiggle around or the edges were up. I will probably not buy this brand again.
