a cover for my hood vent OUTSIDE?

Going out of my mind!

So it's raining all day, and the rain drops are plinking plunking onto my hood vent outside. All day long.

--> What to do?
can I have a "roof" installed over the metal vent?
is heat/release an issue?

see the roof overhang outside of the 3 windows? Well, my hood vent sits on the roof overhang (see next picture).

a bit like this setup, where the metal vent is on the roof overhang, so the raindrops just keep plunking away.
and plunking on my headache.

what to do?

I used to put a piece of indoor/outdoor carpet on my window air conditioner to dampen the sound of the rain. It turned the plunks into splats - easier to tolerate.

Take some Excedrin. Enjoy the rain and looking out at your beautiful yard from your lovely kitchen and be thankful you didn't just get 8+ inches of snow and ice!

Great advice ck! But I do sympathize, we had a roof that was very loud when it rained and it can very annoying.

Any kind of dampening or stiffening material adhered to the vent cover would dramatically reduce noise. For example, you could apply a "roof coating" directly to the vent cover (google roof coating for examples), or you could adhere pieces of roofing material or another piece of sheet metal directly to the vent cover using polyurethane caulk. The former provides dampening only and the latter provides stiffening & dampening, which will result in better performance.

Just want to say I sympathize. We used to have a camper and the rain would make a pinging sound..it wasn't too bad for a camper, but I imagine it could become annoying at home on a regular basis.
Gorgeous kitchen btw.

huango, I have the same problem with mine but I am drought-plagued So Cal so at least I'm not bothered by it too often. It can be quite annoying!
