Wellborn cabinet quality?

Hi,

I'm still trying to decide on what cabinet company to purchase from. My husband and I looked at Wellborn cabinets. Have any of You purchased from this brand or have any advice? We want to buy inset.

We are also looking at Starmark and crestwood(by dura-supreme).
We were so close to being done and ordering our kitchen, I feel like I don't know what to do.
    Please help!

I am doing custom for the kitchen but saving money where we can. I could choose between Quality cabinets and Wellborn. I asked my builder which they preferred because I liked the stain choice in the Wellborn. They told me they thought the Quality brand would be better. I know that doesn't help you too much since you are not picking between the same two I was.

They didn't say anything bad though about Wellborn.

Wellborn makes very good cabinets. Their inset is another line called estates. I have been selling it for the last 6 years; never got any complaint from any of my customers. Quality Custom is different and
price is much higher than Wellborn.

I used Wellborn (cherry) on my last reno in my previous home. I'd was reasonably happy with them but I won't be using them this time around - I'm going fully custom.

After two years use, the finish was wearing away by the knob on the trash pullout and I noticed some 'bubbling/wrinkling' of the top of the drawer bottoms of my flour/sugar drawer. As far as I know, I never had water or something wet in those drawers.

I do think they are a pretty decent, mid-line cabinet but, as I said, I'll have custom kitchen cabs/furniture for my current reno.

BUT, I'm paying a ton more this time too.

    Hello,

We built our house 5 years ago and went with Wellborn, they are good quality and have no issues to this date.

drats, my message above wasn't clear. We are doing a custom kitchen, but for our vanities I was saving money and had a choice between2 stock cabinets--one was called Quality and the other was Wellborn. As I said, I just asked which the builder thought I should pick because it would have been between the bottom of the line Quality or an upcharged Wellborn to get the stain I liked. Sorry for the confusion.

@ferris I saw your post about the different kitchen cabinets you were choosing from. We are looking into renovating our kitchen and also have been looking at Starmark, Crestwood, and Welborn. I know your post is 9 years old, but can you tell me which cabinet you went with and how are they holding up. Any input is greatly appreciated! This is one house project that is so tough to make a decision on. Thanks!

I have Wellborn cabinets. I purchased an entire kitchen of cabiniets still in the boxes when a builder went under. It was a great deal. In addition to those cabinets, I needed more to finish my kitchen. The few cabinets I needed were very expensive from Wellborn. I opted to have custom cabinets made to match the Wellborn cabinets. It was less expensive to have custom made than order from Wellborn. While the Wellborn cabinets are nice, the custom cabinets are much nicer.

Bottom line if I hadn't gotten such a great deal on the orginal Wellborn cabinets purchase, it would have been less expensive to go custom.
