Have you tried your SW Store? Either they'll have the old decks or they should be able to look it up and mix the old color. I was using the old SW exterior deck for exterior color palettes for the simple reason that they are colors that are unlikely to be selected by anyone else 'cuz the chips are gone. I love using older color decks for that very reason, plus there are some good colors to be had in the older decks.

No, I haven't called them yet. I just noticed that my bedroom is a dead ringer for Clary Sage even though it was painted before the current deck. I was hoping there was a chart somewhere that would tell if some colors were just renamed from an older deck.

I don't think they were moved to the new deck and then renamed. I think it was a new collection of colors. That's not to say that some of the old ones did not migrate over under a new name. I dunno.

I never heard much about the old decks transferring over to the new Color Specifier. When the newer SW Concepts in Color deck came out sometime in 2007, I know a lot of people thought some of those color were the Martha Stewart Signature Collection colors just moved under a SW deck and collection name, and that's not the case. The Martha colors and chips totally went bye-bye when the contract ended and the SW Concept in Colors is a whole new palette.

If SW was smart, they would dig out those old interior and exterior palettes. Forward-looking in terms of color trends (real people who paint their houses and businesses color trends, not the Color Marketing-type color trends) I think they already have some killer color solutions in their backpocket and don't even know it.

From a business perspective, it seems they might keep popular colors. I also wonder if people might choose (or not) a color because it had an (un)appealing name. For example cheese mold can be a lovely shade of blue, but would you buy a paint called Moldy Cheese? Clear Lake sounds so much nicer and could depict the same color. So I wonder if they just tweak the name rather than the color sometimes.

Collectors White could have magically morphed into Icy Vanilla or some such.

Since they don't mix 1907 anymore, they instructed me to color match using my fan. 7566 Westhighland White was a perfect match to 1907.
